Stage 1. Tingling and itching

Cold sores often start with a tingling, itching or burning sensation around your mouth, and the best time to treat a cold sore is when these symptoms first occur. Unfortunately, this tingling sensation often occurs at night while you sleep, making it difficult to start treatment immediately.
The good news is that Vectavir provides effective cold sore treatment at any stage, thanks to its unique active ingredient, penciclovir.
Stage 2. Redness and swelling

The affected area appears red and swollen at this stage. You now have a small pimple where you previously felt tingling.
Even at this stage, applying Vectavir can help to relieve pain and accelerate the healing process.
Stage 3. Blistering

At this stage, the pain is at its most intense and the cold sore is clearly noticeable to others. The pain may make it difficult to speak or even smile.
Bumps which were filled with fluid may gradually turn into small blisters and later merge into one large blister. Continue to apply Vectavir at this stage to help reduce pain and accelerate healing.
Stage 4. Crusting

At this stage, it’s crucial that you take care to prevent transmission of infection to other parts of the face or to other people. Blisters are likely to have burst and the ensuing fluid may be contagious.
As the lumps crack and dry out they form a scab, under which there’s new skin. Avoid the temptation to pick off the scab prematurely as this can reopen the wound and delay the healing process.
Stage 5. Healing

Once the wound is healed, the scab falls off and a new pink skin appears in its place.
